Canada is in line to receive 4.5 million COVID-19 vaccines next week.
This comes as Pfizer agrees to move a delivery of doses ahead of the Victoria Day long-weekend.
Pfizer will be providing Canada with 3.4 million doses next week alone, with Moderna delivering 1.1 million as well.
Procurement Minister Anita Anand stressed that this is a huge step, but public health guidelines must still be followed.
“As more and more Canadians are getting vaccinated, provinces and territories can use these guidelines to inform how and when specific measures can be eased,” Anand said. “Here’s what that means for you. For now, you need to keep following public health advice whether or not you’ve been vaccinated to keep yourself, your family, and your community safe.”
This influx of vaccines comes as provinces like Manitoba and Nova Scotia are recording some of their highest daily case counts since the start of the pandemic.
Ontario’s case counts are gradually dropping, though the province is still recording daily numbers over 2,000.
