Wayne Gretzky has stepped down as the Edmonton Oilers Vice Chairman to become an analyst.
A day after the Oilers were swept in the first round by Winnipeg, the Great One has left his post as the team’s vice chairman effective immediately.
In a statement posted to social media, Gretzky who’s 60 now, cited an inability to give the role all the attention it requires.
TNT has hired “The Great One” as an NHL studio analyst for when the network begins its rights deal with the league later this year.
Reports say that Gretzky’s contract will be around $3 million per year.
Good luck to # 99.
