The Halifax Mooseheads opened their QMJHL season on the weekend!
The Herd had a 3-2 win on Friday in Sydney against the Cape Breton Eagles and had a 4-3 shootout loss to the Eagles Saturday here in Moose Country.
Saturday’s Home Opener was the Mooseheads first game since the pandemic began where they could have full capacity of 10,595 fans.
There were almost 6,000 fans at Saturday’s game, 5,868 to be precise, who sounded like over 10,000!
It was great to hear the Moosemaniac fans back in the rink cheering on the Herd.
For many of the players this was their first taste of seeing what a real hockey crowd is like in Halifax, as last year’s season was limited to 1,500 fans per game due to the pandemic.
Doors were opened earlier for fans to show their proof of vaccinations.
The Mooseheads didn’t get the result they wanted, but it was fun to be back in the rink and as the Mooseheads Public Address Announcer it was great to have the fans cheering behind me on every Moose goal I announced!
