Would you believe us if we told you that the SPOOKIEST Haunted House you can visit this year is hosted by an 11 year old boy?
Meet Canon. He is your typical Halloween-loving, thrill-seeking 11 year old from Dartmouth – but he also holds the accolade of ‘WARRIOR’ for the IWK.
Last March, after experiencing abdominal pain, a mass was found on one of Canon’s kidneys. Initially, they thought it was a playground football injury, but the amazing team at the IWK quickly realised there was something more problematic, and eventually the IWK and Children’s Oncology Group made a diagnosis of a Stage 1 Wilm’s Tumor. It has been 7 months of surgeries, hospital stays, pokes, tests, and chemotherapy side effects. But through it all, Canon remains resilient, optimistic, and focused on the things that bring him joy – like, HALLOWEEN!
Happy Halloween! We are ready are you?! #enterifyoudare #houseofdoomonlindenwood Who is feeling brave on this full moon Halloween!?

Melody & Forman spoke to Canon to understand why he started the House of Doom on Lindenwood, and why it is so important to him that people show up – not JUST to have a festive SCARE, but also to support the IWK. You can hear his story at 7:00 on the Melody & Forman podcast:
The House of Doom on Lindenwood is one of many stops on our Monster Map – if you want to show off your own eerily decorated domicile, you can add YOUR house to our map RIGHT HERE.

To say that it was an honour to speak to Canon would be an understatement. We were in awe at his poise, and it was immediately evident how passionate he is about Halloween. We feel compelled to echo the sentiments put forward already by the IWK:
“Canon has been a warrior for himself and our family, and now has become a Warrior for the IWK. This year we ask that those courageous souls who dare to enter the House of Doom on Lindenwood consider a donation to the IWK Foundation.”
