Congratulations to the Valley’s Drake Batherson on getting his first NHL career hat-trick and 4 point night last night with the Ottawa Senators!
To make it even sweeter, Drake’s Dad Norm was in the crowd to see his boy make history and went do to ice level to throw his hat on the ice, seen below:
(Norm Batherson has the blue mask on to the left tossing his ball hat.)
Drake said in a postgame interview that he now owes his Father a new hat…
His Grand-Uncle Matt Minglewood says on his Twitter feed that he would’ve thrown his signature cowboy hat on the ice if he was there in Ottawa.
Drake once played for the Valley Wildcats here in Nova Scotia before moving on to play with the Cape Breton Eagles in the QMJHL and having success for Team Canada at the 2018 World Juniors.
My Son Drake Robinson is a Hockey Nova Scotia Referee and officiated Drake Batherson in the Valley growing up. Once Batherson’s Coach was yelling “Drake, Drake, Drake!” My son Drake was confused wondering why was the coach yelling his name and how does he know his name… 🙂
The Sens lost the game 7-5 to the Washington Capitals.
Way to go Drake on I’m sure what will be the first of many “Hattys.”
