While Haligonians wake up to sweep flurries from their cars on Wednesday, a very different scene is greeting neighbours in other parts of the province.
A late-night emergency alert was issued to residents in Inverness and Victoria counties in Cape Breton advising them to stay off the streets due to severe weather.

Roads are washed out or severely damaged after the strong fall storm blew through the region.
A state of emergency has been declared in Victoria County with people asked to shelter in place.
A similar scene in Antigonish where people were evacuated after heavy rain resulted in flash flooding around a trailer park.

The Canadian Red Cross says they have provided emergency lodging and meals to 63 people from 29 homes around the Indian Garden trailer court.
A Go Fund Me has been launched to help residents recover.
The fundraiser says the money will be given to the impacted families and residents to help with things like food and shelter.
Officials with the Department of Public Works are assessing roads and bridges for safety.
