A light blanket of snow has fallen over Halifax on Wednesday.
Environment Canada is out with a special weather statement calling for up to 5 cm in Halifax county.
It’s predicting the flurries will continue until this evening due to a low-pressure system that lies to the southeast of the province.
“The snow should remain fairly wet in nature as temperatures remain near freezing today,” the statement says. “The snow may be mixed with freezing drizzle at times in areas away from the coast.”
Meantime, Halifax Regional Police are reminding you to drive to the conditions.
They recommend you give yourself extra time so you don’t have to rush.
“Before heading out, take the time to clear all the snow off your entire vehicle, including the roof,” a news release says. “Leaving snow on your vehicle can be dangerous to other road users, especially if it blows off in slabs.”
Another tip is to ensure your windows are completely clear before heading out onto busy streets.
Police add when the roads are slippery your car will need extra time to stop, so leave more space than usual between you and other drivers.
