For those last minute shoppers, 5 p.m. is the general Christmas shopping deadline on December 24th.
Most grocery stores, malls and the NSLC locations say they’ll close their doors for the holidays at that time tomorrow, Christmas Eve. Both Christmas Day and Boxing Day are designated retail closing days here in Nova Scotia, which means you can expect almost everything to be closed down for those two days.
It will be free to cross the MacKay and MacDonald bridges on Christmas Day, Saturday.
Halifax Transit buses will be operating on holiday (Sunday) schedules on Christmas and Boxing Day, but those who plan to take a bus or ferry to check its website or Twitter for information on service disruptions due to staff availability.
The Oval is suppose to officially open for the season on Monday for skating.
Garbage, organics and recyclables collection services will not be affected by the holidays. And Canada Post will be closed on Monday, December 27th and Tuesday, December 28th in lieu of Christmas and Boxing Day falling on the weekend this year. So you’ll get your relatives late Christmas cards next Wednesday!
