Police have charged a man with first-degree murder in relation to the homicide that occurred in Halifax on Thursday.
At approximately 9:15 a.m. officers responded to a weapons call at a business in the 1500 block of Brunswick Street.
A man entered the business and attacked a staff member.
A patron of the business attempted to intervene and was also injured.
The suspect ran off but was arrested later in the area.
The staff member, a 55-year-old man, was stabbed and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later died.
The patron, a 66-year-old man, was injured during the altercation and taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The victim has been identified as 55-year-old Tony Nader.
Cymon Felix Cormier, 25, is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on Friday to face charges of:
- First degree murder
- Assault causing bodily harm
- Assault with a weapon
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public
Investigators believe this was not a random incident.
