More calls for people to stay off lakes and ponds.
Halifax police say it’s still not safe and the city hasn’t started its regular testing for ice thickness.
“We remind the public that the municipality’s ice thickness testing program has not yet begun for the 2021/22 winter season as it is not yet safe for staff to be on the ice.” – Halifax Police
The force is reminding the public there is thin ice and open water in many areas throughout the region.
When testing resumes a guide on HRM’s website lists the body of water, the specific location that was checked, the ice thickness at that location and the date it was checked.
