Public Health is warning of potential exposure to COVID-19 on an Air Canada flight from Mexico.
If you were present on the following flight on the named date and time, you are required to immediately self-isolate and follow the instructions for COVID-19 close contacts based on your vaccination status and whether you have symptoms.
- Air Canada 1411 travelling on Jan. 9 from Cancun, Mexico (2:55 p.m.) to Halifax (8:25 p.m.). Passengers in rows 14 to 20, seats A, C and D. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus on this flight on the named date may develop symptoms up to, and including, Jan. 23.
Public Health recently changed its approach to issuing exposure notices due to the increase in COVID-19.
“Most Nova Scotians who are positive for COVID-19 will identify and contact their close contacts,” a news release says. “As a result, Public Health will no longer have the necessary information to report most exposure sites and locations. Those that are identified through case management in high-risk settings … will be reported.”
High-risk settings include long-term care, hospitals, shelters and transition houses, corrections facilities and other group living settings.
Health officials say as the Omicron variant of COVID-19 is widespread in Nova Scotia the risk of transmission is high everywhere.
If you test positive on a rapid test, you’re asked to reach out to public health by email with your name and contact information (PublicHealthPOCT@nshealth.ca). You will need to let your contacts know and follow directions for people who test positive.
In addition to media releases, all potential exposure notifications are listed here.
