The body of a missing swimmer has been recovered in Dartmouth.
Halifax Regional Police provided the update late Thursday morning after the search began the night before near King’s Wharf.
Police were called to a suspected drowning at around 8 p.m. Witnesses reported a man had gone underwater and could not be found.
Residents and boaters were asked to avoid the area while the search was carried out.
Police say divers with the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team are now clear from the scene.
“Our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” they say in a news release.
His identity is pending confirmation with the Medical Examiner Service.
The investigation is ongoing.
