Congrats to AHL Referee Terry Koharski from Dartmouth who’s officiated over 3,000 games at several minor and pro levels.
Terry who’s nickname is “Koho” retired on Saturday night after a 40-year career!
He’s pictured above with former Mooseheads star Marty Frk who played in Saturday’s game with the Springfield Thunderbirds that Terry officiated.
Terry and his brother NHL Referee Don Koharski began their officiating careers in the old Shannon Park Rink in Dartmouth that was over by the MacKay Bridge.
Terry started out officiating games in the American Hockey League at the Metro Centre here in Halifax in the early 1980’s at the Nova Scotia Voyageurs games.
The “Koho” brothers last name is well known in rinks around Canada and the U.S.
Terry’s family joined him for his special night on Saturday:

Thanks to Terry and Don for helping my son Drake Robinson along the way climbing the officiating ladder here in Nova Scotia over the years.

In his retirement Terry plans on helping the upcoming young officials hone their craft.
Congrats Terry and happy retirement!
