The Halifax District RCMP is investigating a sudden death in Cole Harbour,
At around 7:00 last night, a report came in of a distressed man at a home on Greenborough Crescent.
The 52-year-old armed himself with a knife and threatened to harm himself while in the presence of a woman and a youth. They were not physically injured.
The man left the residence on foot before the police arrived.
An emergency alert was issued a precaution while the police searched for the man.
At around 9:30, the man was located at a nearby frozen lake, and he later died in hospital from exposure and self-inflicted wounds.
Chief Superintendent Jeffrey Christie commended the first responders that worked to locate the man and he sends his condolences to the man’s family.
The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s Office is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
