Rolling Stone published a list of the 50 Greatest Canadian Acts Of All Time.
3 of them are from Halifax, others have that classic Scotian connection, then there are some who aren’t listed at all.
No Buble, but there is Carly Rae Jepson. Snow made the list, but Blue Rodeo did not.
As for our local talent…
April Wine is in at 47
Broken Social Scene…at 36…which features feist…who was born in Amherst and is also on the list as a solo act.
Anne Murray at 34
No Rankin Family, but oddly enough Indy Pop Rockers Alvvays which features a Rankin Family member’s child, they made the list.
Molly Rankin, the lead singer of Alvvays, is the daughter of the late John Morris Rankin – they’re in at 29
Sarah McLachlan is at 24
Feist at 21
Sloan at 20
Hank Snow is in at 19…and is the highest Nova Scotian on the list.
