Back on the weekend the Halifax Mooseheads retired Nathan MacKinnon’s # 22 jersey to the rafters!
For me as the Mooseheads Public Address Announcer, it was huge a thrill to welcome Nathan MacKinnon back home and hear the fans roar with a standing ovation in the rink that he grew up idolizing the Moose players.
A memorable night in #MooseCountry as Nate's #22 goes to the rafters forever with 10,073 fans in the stands! #ThankYou22 🏒🥅🎙 pic.twitter.com/14YXHFyCDI

Nathan’s family joined him on the ice for the unveiling with his mom Kathy, dad Graham, sister Sarah and girlfriend Charlotte.
Nate said he was four when he went to his very first Moose game and was hooked as watched players like Brandon Benedict, Brandon Reid, Rane Carnegie and Kevin Cormier from the stands.
In his speech, Nate said he was honoured to have his 22 retired in the rafters forever and never in his wildest dreams did he think this would happen.
He also said in his six minute speech that it was a dream come true to wear the red and green in his hometown.

It was a banner night, above some of my scripts.
Congrats Nate, we’re all Moose Country proud of you!
