Congrats to Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia NHL Referee Gord Dwyer who recently worked his 1200th NHL game!
Gord started out in the Old Sackville Arena and Sackville Sports Stadium rinks in the area officiating minor hockey games, from there he eventually made it to the QMJHL working Halifax Mooseheads games and then getting the call to work in the NHL.

Gord recently returned home and worked the NHL preseason game in Halifax between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Ottawa Senators on October 2nd.
I had the chance to meet Gord and say thanks for being a mentor for my son Drake who is a high level referee around here and all the other Nova Scotia officials who dream of making the NHL someday.
