So sad to hear of the passing of Myles Goodwyn of April Wine at age 75 yesterday in a Halifax hospital after a battle with cancer.
Myles was born in Woodstock, New Brunswick and was the lead vocalist, guitarist, and principal songwriter of the band, which formed in 1969 right here in Waverly, Nova Scotia.
He did his last April Wine show just this past March up in Truro to a sold out crowd.

April Wine has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide and have a star on the Canadian Walk of Fame in Toronto.

Through my radio career I got to know him and I was Myles’ “wrangler” on Christmas Daddies Telethon the last few years, we had a few laughs.
When I’d call or text with Myles, 12 year old Ian would loose his stuff.

In their 1975 hit “Cum Hear the Band”, I always thought this line was so cool: “And, Ian’s got a set of drums.”

Thanks for the Soundtrack to our Nova Scotia lives.

(Above: Myles’ autobiography, a great read!)
Thinking of his wife Kim, the family and bandmates like Jim Henman, who called Myles his “best friend.”
Rest in peace in rock n roll heaven, Myles, a proud Nova Scotian.
