This morning’s traffic was absolutely a testament to Halifax’s patience. Phone lines were blowing up with updates as it appeared that every possible route into the city center faced some sort of collision or traffic jam. That led us to the question:
Would you rather: take the long way to your destination knowing it will be a few minutes longer but deal with no traffic OR sit in traffic knowing your route will be a few minutes shorter?
For most of the morning it was a 100% consensus on “traffic sucks, I’m taking the long way” with myself as a swing vote since I am at the moment a commuter and not a driver. I feel like the impromptu traffic jam dance party would be a fun experience. Forman says ABSOLUTELY NOT and that shaving 10-15 off the drive just to sit in traffic sounds like a nightmare — and pretty much everyone agreed. However in the last hour of the show one listener threw the numbers off by stating that she would much rather take the traffic and not because of the shorter route but because she would be able to sit back, drink her coffee, and enjoy the silence for what little of it she has that day.
I think that sounds like an amazing time honestly.
