Cape Breton Eagles forward Jacob Newcombe from Sambro, just outside of Halifax, will return to the line-up tonight in Sydney.
He’s 19 now and just before Eagles training camp was to start last summer, he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma following a medical evaluation.
He was back on the ice in Sydney yesterday and and it was like he never left the team.
Jacob says he has been waiting to get back on the ice for months now and thanks the fans for all their support over the last few months.
I was chatting with Jacob at the Halifax Macs Hockey Fights Cancer night in December and told him our son Trent beat children’s kidney cancer in 2000 and that Jacob will win his battle too!
