A woman from Ontario is going to spend her golden years as owner of a castle in a small Cape Breton community.
The castle features 10-bedrooms and 18-bathrooms, imagine cleaning all of them!
The fortress is situated on over 160 acres of land in downtown Bucklaw, that’s along the Trans-Canada Highway between the Causeway and Baddeck.
The property has private access to a Bras d’Or lakefront.
It was listed in November with a price tag of just a dollar shy of one million dollars, at $999,999.
Elaine Knight finalized the sale last month and said she’s spent the last few years looking for a location to retire in Cape Breton where she could also set up a spa or an Airbnb retreat.
Her niece brought the castle listing to her attention and she decide then and there to buy it Elaine says “Now the planning is in place to get the place up to par.
She’s going to want it to be perfect as people come into it.” The landmark was previously known as “Castle Moffet” – the building operated mostly as a bed and breakfast since opening back in 1992.
Elaine who suitably plans to rename the fortress “Castle Knight” to match her appropriate name!
Funny story: When we would be driving home to the Cape to visit my parents over the years, our son Trent was around 5 or 6 and He’d say “I’m the King of the Castle…” and I’d say “and you’re the dirty rascal” a line from the rhyme… then he asked me: Dad? “What does a dirty rascal look like?”… I said Google it, kid…
Welcome to Nova Scotia, Elaine.
