Full-time faculty, librarians and lab instructors at the Mount are planning to strike, Monday.
Lead negotiator for the Mount Saint Vincent University Faculty Association (MSVUFA), Dr. Genevieve Boulet says, while the strike looms large, “the MSVUFA bargaining team are continuing negotiations with the employer and will continue to do so until there is a new Collective Agreement.”
The association, which represents 160 members, had a secret vote in December where 99 per cent of it’s members, voted 97 per cent in favour of a strike.
The Association says they are looking for a settlement that is on par with other Nova Scotian and regional universities that advances things like equity, diversity and inclusion. They add that it’s deeply disappointing that the Board of Governors have failed to live up to its values.
Unless a tentative agreement is reached, members plan to be on the picket lines, Monday, February 12, at noon.
