A new overnight shelter is coming to Truro for those experiencing homelessness.
The province says it will open Monday night in Connection Church, with services provided by Souls Harbour Rescue Mission and will operate Monday to Friday, 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. and Saturday at 8 a.m., until April 30.
There will be 15 beds, meals, showers through the Truro Outreach Society, and laundry two days a week.
The society has expanded its hospitality program at Haven House. Clients who are staying at the new shelter, as well as anyone else experiencing housing insecurity in the community, are encouraged to stop by Wednesday evenings from 5 to 8 p.m. or Sundays from 4 to 8 p.m.
This new location brings the total number of shelter beds in Nova Scotia to 534 as well as 643 supportive housing units.
