Team Canada won the Women’s World Hockey Championship back with a bit of revenge.
After losing last year’s gold-medal game to the United States on home ice in Brampton, Ont., the Canadians turned the tables with yesterday’s 6-5 overtime win over the U.S. in Utica, N.Y.
Danielle Serdachny scored the golden goal at 5:16 of overtime on a Canadian power play. The U.S. was caught with too many players on the ice in the OT period.

Congrats to Stellarton’s Blayre Turnbull, as well as coach Troy Ryan from Spryfield and Assistant Coach Kori Cheverie of New Glasgow, who’ll all be bringing Gold back to Nova Scotia!
There was even a young Halifax Mooseheads fan spotted in the crowd in Utica.
Great job by my friend Kenzie Lalonde calling the play-by-play in the Gold Medal Game!

It was reminiscent from when Canada beat the States in Halifax 20 years ago when HRM hosted the Women’s World Hockey Championship. Pictures and memories b clicking HERE.
Way to go Team Canada!
