Hundreds gathered at the Halifax Convention Centre for Mayor Mike Savage’s last State of The Municipality address.
Sixty-three-year-old Savage, who has served for three terms, announced he would not be reoffering in February.
At Thursday’s event, he reflected on his 12 years at the helm of the city and discussed the city’s growth and future.
Regional councillors took to social media to praise and thank Savage.
Councillor Tony Mancini posted on X, calling him the “best mayor in living memory.”
Mancini added that Savage is “leaving our Municipality in better shape than when he first took the job.”
The next municipal vote is set for this October.
