Halifax native and Winnipeg Jets head coach Rick Bowness announced yesterday that he’s retiring from coaching after 38 seasons and 2,726 plus games in the NHL, the most by anyone in league history!
Rick spent time behind the bench for various NHL teams including the Boston Bruins, Ottawa Senators, New York Islanders, Tampa Bay Lightning, Phoenix Coyotes, and the Dallas Stars.
He always wore his Nova Scotia tartan tie proudly behind the bench.

He said he knew that he was done when he was walking off the ice at Canada Life Centre last Tuesday.
Rick is a finalist for the Jack Adams Award!
He’s 69 now, so happy retirement Rick and enjoy with your wife Judy.
The NHL will not be the same without ya, Bones.
