Bill was a friend of mine and many. He was a long-time teacher turned MLA for Timberlea-Prospect.
I have many great memories of Bill over the years. Bill was always proud to sponsor local TASA Minor Hockey players where they would wear “BILL MLA” as their sponsor on the bottom of their jerseys, thanks to Bill for his sponsorship of our son Drake back in the day.
Another favorite memory was when Bill and I bet on Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs game. The loser would have to wear the opposite team’s jersey. Bill lost the bet and k like a good sport; he wore my Darryl Sittler Leafs jersey during a ladder-a-thon for Christmas Daddies at Sobeys Tantallon.
One time at St. Margaret’s Centre, Bill and I were by the boards watching TASA play, and I was saying how busy it was with two boys in hockey. Bill said “Ian, someday Drake and Trent and going to be done Hockey and you and Roxanne will just be sitting there looking at each other saying ‘what do we do now?'”
Bill was a dedicated Lion and was there in the Tantallon Christmas tree lot when we went to go get our trees over the years.
He was honoured to have the community hall named after him in Lewis Lake.
Bill spent his final years out West with his family.
Thanks for making a difference and for everything Bill, we’ll miss ya!
