It was great to recently get caught up with our friend, long-time former host of The Weather Network, Chris St. Clair and his wife Susan at Peggy’s Cove.
For more than twenty-five years, Chris was on the frontline of Canada’s biggest weather events as a popular presenter on The Weather Network.
Hard to believe but he’s been retired for three years now.
It was a tradition on weekend mornings to watch Chris and hear his friendly opening “Hi, I’m glad you’re here!”
We reminisced about the recent anniversary of Hurricane Juan, 21 years ago on September 28th and 29th, 2003.
I asked Chris about some of his memories from his travels.
One time while in a boat in the Florida Everglades storm chasing, while videoing on his cellphone, he accidently bumped his hand off his cameraman’s camera, and thus his phone fell into the murky waters of the Everglades. Yes, he had to go buy a new phone in Florida!
When asked what his most memorable event that he covered, it was the wildfires in Fort MacMurray in 2016.
In his book “Weather Permitting” Chris shares his never-before-told stories covering the country’s most astounding weather events.

It’s a great read for anyone who’s a weather geek like me.

Was awesome to have Chris back in his hometown of Halifax where he once worked at AM 92/CJCH, and yes, some radio and TV stories were told.
