Power rates are going up in Nova Scotia.
Nova Scotia Power will increase the rate by an average of 1.4 percent in January.
Their request for 2023 storm-cost recovery was approved by the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board.
The rate increase will help recover costs from six storms during the year, including tropical storms Lee and Philippe.
The total charge to ratepayers is $24 million, and will last for one year.
It’s the second rate increase for 2025, another 2.4 percent hike was approved last week.
It relates to a $50-million loan guarantee from the federal government.
