It was so great to get a visit from the “Voice of the Cape Breton Eagles” Dave LeBlanc at the Halifax Mooseheads New Year’s Eve game!
I grew up listening to Dave on 1270 CJCB in Sydney when he read the sports on the radio and was Sports Director.

We later worked together in the 1980’s at CJCB and 94.9 CKPE-FM, “Cape Country.”
Now we’re fellow QMJHL Public Address Announcers.

Dave has been the voice of hockey in Sydney for decades and was the announcer for the Cape Breton Oilers between 1988 and 1996 at Centre 200 after the Nova Scotia Oilers moved to Sydney from Halifax. He’s done it all from play-by-play to public address announcing.
The Nova Scotia Oilers, the Edmonton Oilers American Hockey League team, was replaced in Halifax by the Citadels who were the farm club for the AHL’s Quebec Nordiques.
The Citadels played at the then Metro Centre between 1988 and 1993, in 1994, your QMJHL Halifax Mooseheads arrived in the city and the rest is history.
It was great to see Dave and exchange a few stories in the announcer booth at ice level in Moose Country.
