Two men are dead after a tragic fire in Dartmouth.
Long-time partners Ron Dunphy and Francis Anopuechi’s house went up in flames just before 1 p.m., Friday.
According to a GoFundMe, organized by community member Ali Nickerson, Francis pulled Ron out of the home in a “heroic act of love and courage”, risking everything.
The two men were sent to hospital alongside a firefighter who had burned his hands.
Ron passed away on the way to hospital, while Francis remained in intensive care with severe injuries.
Tragically, both Ron and Francis died from their injuries just days apart from one another.
The fundraiser says Francis was “beloved” and Ron was a “cornerstone” of the community who helped organize the very first pride parade in Halifax.
Already more than $600 has been raised for the family of Francis to help with funeral costs.
The GoFundMe says the outpouring of love and support has been truly incredible.
“We are deeply grateful.”
