A tense few moments for employees and shoppers in the Walmart at Dartmouth Crossing, Thursday afternoon.
Halifax Fire tells our newsroom the call came in just after 12:15 p.m., with reports that there was smoke in the store coming through the vents.
The heating system on the roof had caught fire while parts were being replaced.
The store was evacuated, and the fire was contained to the roof and put out, without spreading into the store.
Fire crews left the scene shortly before 1 p.m.
