Halifax Regional Police are searching for a suspect after a violent break-and-enter incident in Dartmouth.
Officers responded to a report of a break-in at a home on Woodlawn at approximately 1:56 a.m. on Saturday.
Police said a man armed with a knife and a piece of wood forced his way inside and assaulted two residents, both of whom are known to him.
The suspect then stole a vehicle belonging to one of the victims.
Officers attempted to stop the stolen vehicle, but the driver did not comply. Due to safety concerns, they called off the pursuit.
The vehicle was later found abandoned, but the suspect has not been located.
Authorities have identified the suspect as Dennis Johnson, a 62-year-old man who is around six feet tall.
Police are warning the public not to approach Johnson.
