The number of Nova Scotians on the waitlist for a family doctor or nurse practitioner has decreased slightly.
As of May 1, 2025, a total of 91,474 people were listed on the province’s Need a Family Practice Registry. That’s down from 93,682 at the beginning of April.
According to Nova Scotia Health, more than 2,200 people were either matched with a primary care provider or removed from the list following validation checks, which confirmed they already had a provider.
The current waitlist represents about 8.6 percent of the province’s population. The next update to the registry is expected in early June.
