After 32 days including ten provinces, and over $1.1 million raised, the Terry Fox National Ride of Hope team has ended their journey in St. John’s, Newfoundland where Terry began his Marathon of Hope 45 years ago on April 12th, 1980.
Darrell Fox, the younger brother of Canadian hero Terry Fox followed in his famous siblings route on a bicycle with his cycling team of seven riding an incredible 7,500 kilometers on a journey across Canada.
They reached “Mile One” yesterday after riding through hills and heat including a stop in Thunder Bay, Ontario where Terry’s run sadly ended.

Darrell says to be on the other side of what Terry began proved to him what Terry did was pretty incredible and he will spend the rest of his life trying to articulate what his brother did.
The Ride of Hope raised and amazing one million dollars!

I was lucky to meet Darrell in 2005 when he was in Halifax for a Terry Fox Run event. He met our son Trent, who is a cancer survivor, and was moved by his Wilms’ tumour kidney cancer story.
Congrats to Darrell and all on The Ride of Hope!
The 45th Terry Fox run for Cancer Research is on this September and I look forward to being the MC once again, find out more HERE.
