Drivers in Wellington and surrounding communities will soon have a safer and quicker route to Highway 102.
The Aerotech Connector, a new five-kilometre stretch of highway, links Trunk 2 with Exit 5A of Highway 102, south of Enfield. The route is set to open in early September and is expected to improve access to Aerotech Industrial Park and Halifax Stanfield International Airport.

The $70-million project, which includes $10 million in federal funding, features a climbing lane for passing slower traffic and roundabouts at both ends — where the new road meets Highway 102 and at Trunk 2/Sunnylea Road. Most of the road has been built lower than surrounding homes, with tree cover to help reduce noise and visibility.
The connector was also routed to avoid wetlands and other environmentally sensitive areas.
Council officials and contractors say the project will reduce congestion, support local businesses, and improve overall safety for drivers in the area.
Photos of the new highway are available on the provincial government’s website.
