Canada Post is reporting more financial losses as it tries to hammer out a new collective agreement with its workers.
The over $407 million loss for the last three months follows the record-setting $448 million loss in the previous quarter.
They attribute the losses to sharp declines in parcel deliveries, which are down almost 30 percent over last year.
Canada Post adds that the contract dispute with its workers is hurting all aspects of its business as customers seek out competitors that can offer more stable and reliable service.
Mail deliveries were up during the second quarter, aided by mailings related to June’s federal election.
Contract talks between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers remain on hold as Canada Post reviews the union’s latest proposal.
They were to take place last Friday but were postponed to Monday and later cancelled for a second time.
