More than eight million dollars in illegal drugs have been seized in a drug bust in southern Ontario.
Provincial Police say the seizure was part of an eight-month investigation into a production and distribution network.
They say illegal cannabis was being shipped across Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
The OPP’s Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET), the Department of Justice and Public Safety in New Brunswick and the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada were involved in the investigation.
Investigators executed search warrants at several locations and seized 753 lbs of dried illicit cannabis, large quantities of illicit cannabis products, including edibles and vapes, and 28,280 illicit cannabis plants in various stages of growth.
Four hundred cartons of contraband tobacco and 30 g of suspected cocaine were also discovered.
Five people face a total of 18 drug-related charges.
They have since been released on condition to appear back in court at a later date.
