Halifax Regional Police are warning seniors in the city after reports of a recent scam.
Police say between July 8 and August 18, 2025, officers received four reports of a man collecting deposits from seniors for repair work he never returned to complete.
In some instances, police say the suspect asked victims for additional cash advances to cover materials and permits while providing fraudulent receipts that were signed with a false name.
The suspect appeared in court on September 16 to face several charges including fraud under $5,000.
The investigation remains ongoing and anyone who suspects they have been a victim of fraud can report it by contacting police or Crime Stoppers.
