A key trail on McNabs Island in the Halifax Harbour is getting $50,000 from the federal government to help with reconstruction.
Timmins Cove Trail, that runs east to west, is about 800 metres long and connects sites like the Teahouse Outdoor Education Centre, the Hugonin-Perrin English Gardens, the Findley Farm and others.
In a news release, Ottawa says, due to damage sustained by Hurricane Juan in 2003, the trail was not accessible to most users, but construction is now nearly complete.
The money is through the Active Transportation Fund, however the province, HRM and Friends of McNabs Island Society are also contributing.
Darren Fisher, MP for Dartmouth-Cole Harbour says the government is proud to support the project.
“This investment not only promotes healthy, active living, it also gives Nova Scotians and visitors the opportunity to discover even more of the island’s rich natural beauty and heritage,” says Fisher.
