I was sad to hear of the passing of Bill Mont who died last week.
He was a Halifax entrepreneur who had quite the journey.
Bill created the local flea markets in the 1970’s, known as the “Flea Market King” and owned a real estate company and a cemetery too, among other ventures.
He was a regular voice on local radio call in shows and appeared in 20 movies.

His obituary reads:
“People come aboard the train of life, each embarking on their own unique journey. Some reach their destination sooner than others, while a few are blessed with a long and remarkable voyage. Bill’s journey was just that… long, adventurous, and full of purpose. After 96 wonderful years, Bill’s train has gently arrived at its final station, leaving behind tracks of love, hard work, and cherished memories that will guide us always. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a future date (to be determined).”

He lived at Northwood that past 25 years and will certainly be missed on the airwaves.
I actually met Bill at Rick Howe’s Celebration of Life in 2024 and Bill said “Thanks for recognizing me, Ian”
Thank you for all you did for Halifax, Bill Mont.
Rest easy, caller.
-Ian
