The Great 8 has reached another huge career milestone!
Alex Ovechkin the star Captain of The Washington Capitals scored goal number 900 Wednesday night on his 1504th NHL game.
He did this just seven months after becoming the leagues all time goal scoring leader breaking “The Great One” Wayne Gretzky’s record of 894 goals.

(Above: My picture from seeing Alex Ovechkin play against the Florida Panthers in February 2018 in Sunrise, FLA.)
The milestone came 2:39 into the second period of a 6-1 win when Ovie scored against Jordan Binnington of the St. Louis Blues.
The bench cleared to celebrate the 40-year-old’s accomplishment, while Binnington tucked the milestone puck into his pants.
He eventually pulled the puck out of the back of his goalie pants to linesperson Michel Cormier, and it made its way to Ovechkin.
The person behind # 8’s record of 900 is # 87 Sidney Crosby of Cole Harbour with 634 goals.
Below is a look back at Alex Ovechkin’s impressive stats:
Goal No. 100: Oct. 12, 2007 (game 167)
