James Grant’s wood shop in Milton, Queens County, has been busy these days.
There’s a lot of love and support for the families of the 22 victims whose lives were taken last month following the shooting rampage throughout central Nova Scotia.
Grant, along with his wife, Tanya, and their 11-year-old daughter, Abby, are making wooden flowers meant to resemble Nova Scotia’s flag, their project is called the “Nova Scotia Strong Flower Fund.”
But their hobby is now an obsession. Made from Nova Scotia white pine, eight of the flower petals are white, four are blue and the centrepiece is yellow with either a heart or the Nova Scotia coat of arms on it.
Each flower costs $25.00 and $5.00 from each flower sold will go to a bursary in memory of Kristen Beaton and Heather O’Brien, the V.O.N nursed killed in the Nova Scotia shootings, for Colchester County students planning to enter the continuing care assistant program or licensed practical nurse program.
Great job Grant family!
