Twenty years ago yesterday in 2004, Halifax was nailed by 95 centimeters thanks to a blizzard that was nicknamed “White Juan.”
It was one of the biggest storms to hit Nova Scotia to date, that is up until the recent record breaker in Cape Breton, when the Sydney are was hit by 150 plus centimeters of the white stuff.
In 2004 we were living on James Street in Timberlea and the snow was as high as our boys swing set in the backyard!

In the front driveway the drifts were as high as our 2000 Dodge Caravan and 2000 Ford Focus!

There was a curfew in effect in HRM plus the kids enjoyed a week off from school to play in the snow until things were dug out.

It seems like yesterday? What do you remember about “White Juan?”
