Raise your hand if your New Year’s Eve will involve changing diapers and early bedtimes 🙋
I get it!! My family is in the SAME BOAT.
If you ARE able to go out and do some fun stuff, there is a lot going on.
But if you’re keeping the party INDOORS, *AND* you’ve got kiddos to entertain all night as well, I’ve got some fun activities you can do to RING IN THE NEW YEAR from the comfort of your own home!

GAMING PARTY
Hosting a gaming party could involve board games, card games, or even video games! How often do you actually get to sit down with your kiddos and play Mario Kart? Maybe up the stakes a bit, and DRESS UP for the occasion!
2. NEW YEAR’S EVE SCAVENGER HUNT
I love the scavenger hunt template that you can find here, but you can also make your own: Have the kiddos find party items like noise makers, party hats, balloons, sparklers, etc and then you’ve got everything you need to ring in the new year together!
3. GOLD SLIME
Don’t hate me for this one.
I usually would not wish home-made slime upon my worst enemy, BUT this is a fun (and TOTALLY FESTIVE!!) activity to do as a family, and it will occupy the kiddos for AGES!
Ingredients Needed to Make Gold Slime
- Elmer’s Glue
- water
- baking soda
- Gold Glitter – Or whatever glitter colour you want.
- Contact lens solution *note: your brand of contact lens solution must contain boric acid and sodium borate.
