RCMP say a man who had barricaded himself inside a home in HRM has been found dead.
In an update on X around 12:30 p.m. Thursday, police say officers remain on scene, at a residence in the 1300 block of West Porter’s Lake Road continuing their investigation alongside the province’s medical examiner.
Final update, 12:30 p.m. A man has been located inside the home deceased. The RCMP remains at the home continuing its investigation, with assistance of the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service. Our thoughts are with the man's family at this difficult time.

It was around 7:30 a.m. when RCMP first warned residents on X that a man had barricaded himself inside a home and was believed to be armed.

There was no one else inside the residence with no immediate threat but power was turned off on surrounding streets temporarily around 9:30 a.m., for about a half hour and residents were asked to stay inside their homes.
There are no other details at this time.
