More local reaction to Brad Marchand’s Stanley Cup victory with the Florida Panthers.
The 37-year-old from Hammonds Plains lifted his second trophy on Tuesday, 14 years after his first win with Boston in 2011.
Rick Burns, the MLA for Hammonds Plains-Lucasville says it’s incredible.
“He’s an inspiration, he gives the kids someone to look up to. It’s proof that if you try hard enough, you can one day win the Cup too.”
He’s hoping Marchand can bring Hammonds Plains road to a halt with a Stanley Cup celebration this summer, and the St. Margarets Centre.
Burns adds that Marchand’s style of play is a bit different than Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon, but there’s no denying that he’s a top level player.
