After Halifax Jazz Festival’s large banner went missing from downtown earlier this week, the community quickly stepped up.
On Sunday, organizers confirmed that the Graphic & Print Production Program at Nova Scotia Community College’s Ivany Campus offered to reprint and replace the banner at no cost. The original 60-foot banner was located at Barrington and South Streets and had disappeared days before the festival was set to begin.
Jazz Festival organizers say they are grateful for the support and see the gesture as a testament to the deep ties between Halifax’s arts and education communities.
This year marks the festival’s 40th edition, with 70 percent of its programming offered for free to the public. The six-day event starts Tuesday, July 15, featuring a mix of local and international jazz artists and year-round educational programming.
