You’ll have to wait even longer for a new high-speed ferry that will travel between the Bedford and Halifax waterfronts.
A spokesperson for HRM tells us in an email, it is estimated that the project will now be completed in 2030, two years later than anticipated.
The city says staff are still working alongside the province on acquiring the land needed.
The ferry was announced in March of 2024 to be in Mill Cove along the Bedford waterfront, after an investment of $260 million from all three levels of government.
The plan is for five ferries, two net-zero terminals as well as a maintenance facility.
In addition to that, a bridge will be built over the CN rail line in Bedford, so that cars, pedestrians and cyclists can access the Mill cove terminal easier.
The projected was originally planned for 2027/28.
