A funding boost for multiculturalism projects and anti-racism programs.
Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture and Minister responsible for Official Languages and to the Secretary of State and Member, and Fredericton Oromocto MP David Myles announced over $1,200,000 in Moncton on Thursday.
“These investments will have a meaningful impact across Atlantic Canada. They support the artists and organizations who bring our communities together, celebrate our diversity and challenge us to grow, Myles stated.
This will benefit programs and projects in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador. It will help to advance anti-racism, diversity and inclusion; intercultural and interfaith understanding; and research to build awareness of the disparities and challenges faced by equity-deserving populations.
Some of the projects in new Brunswick include Satellite Théâtre, who are receiving $154,325, The Greater Moncton Scottish Association Inc. who will receive $15,000, the Jamaican Canadian Association of New Brunswick for its festival Atlantic JerkFest, with a contribution of $5000 and the Asian Heritage Society of New Brunswick Inc.Saint John Chapter, which is receiving $22,000.
